Brands Hatch GP was always going to be difficult, but I didn’t imagine that it would be quite as tricky as it turned out!
I had never driven the GP loop before, and the half-hour test on the Friday was reduced to only seven laps due to red flags. On top of this, it began to spit just as we went out for qualifying. The increasingly slippery track caught me out on lap five, as I lost the back going through Paddock and finished in the gravel trap.
With the car de-gravelled, I lined up for my sole race of the weekend. An awful start cost me time but I enjoyed fighting my way back through, until a puncture ended my race. As I missed Sunday’s race to compete in the UK Athletics Challenge final in Manchester, it was a pretty disappointing weekend. But although I didn’t do many laps of the GP circuit, I loved the track anyway and hope I’ll be driving there again soon.
